“I had 3 kids at home, and I wanted to find something that I can make money doing. I always loved sewing, so I thought I could get into making wedding gowns and bean bag chairs. When Hurricane Iniki hit in Hawaii, that’s where I lived at the time, there was no electricity and the only place I can sew was at a local upholstery store that had a generator. They hired me on the spot, and from there I had 2 years of apprenticeship in upholstery. I came down to Corpus and bought Singer Sewing from the previous owner, and now I get to share my skills and passion with other sewers in South Texas. It’s truly a blessing.”
